Like in the Supro guitars, they have gold foil pickups for an enhancement.

Gold foil how? Gold foil as a hum shield? Capping the magnets with gold foil for better sensitivity close to the strings? How about running a line of gold foil from top to bottom of the upright magnet, to enhance sensitivity to current/string interaction? Gold foil wire wraps would conduct current well but radically drop the strength of magnetic field? Please explain the vision of how gold foil would be used...........
